Jeff originally trained and worked as a pharmacist, and has worked in the health care field for almost thirty years. He completed his Bachelor and Master’s degrees at the University of Saskatchewan and continued on to complete a PhD at the University of Arizona in 1996. For the past 20 years, he has led many health research studies at the University of Alberta, with a particular focus on chronic medical conditions like diabetes and obesity. He is a Professor and the Associate Dean for Education in the School of Public Health at the University of Alberta. From 2012 to 2014 he served as the Scientific Director for the Diabetes, Obesity and Nutrition clinical network with Alberta Health Services. Jeff is relatively new to yoga, but is an enthusiast, having practiced yoga for the past 4 years at various studios in the St. Albert area. He has always been interested in health in general, exploring and understanding what determines health and how we, individually and collectively, can positively influence our health.
